The USPS Package Intercept® Program

A Pile Of Different Types Of Mail PiecesThe United States Postal Service (USPS) has many services that often go unnoticed. An example of a handy service — to keep in the back of your mind — is how the USPS  will allow you to redirect a domestic shipment that hasn’t been delivered or released for delivery with their USPS Package Intercept® service.

The service is available for:

  • Packages
  • Letters
  • Flats (with a tracking or extra services barcode)

Options include having mail piece:

  • Held at a Post Office™ as a hold for pickup
  • Sent to a different domestic address
  • Alternatively be redirected as Priority Mail® back to the sender’s address

For commercial customers, with a Centralized Account Payment System (CAPS) account, register online at the Business Customer Gateway to make your request and pay applicable fees.
